GUANGZHOU, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- World number one duo, Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong failed to defend their title after losing out in a rubber-set to Indonesian pair Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan in the men's doubles final of the 16th Asian Games at the Tianhe Sports Centre, here Saturday.

After winning the first set 21-16, the Malaysians lost the second 24-26 before bowing out 19-21 in the rubber-set.

"Unfortunately, we failed to defend our title and deliver the gold in the men's doubles competition," he told reporters here Saturday night.

In an earlier match, world number one men's singles, Datuk Lee Chong Wei booked a final berth on Sunday and will face world champion, Lin Dan of China in the men' singles event.
