Incentive Stirs Nur Ayuni To Perform Better In Asia Games

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- The RM80,000 that shooter Nur Ayuni Farhana Abdul Halim recently received in the National Sports Awards has made her more determined than ever to achieve glory at the Asia Games in Guangzhou, China, next week.

Nur Ayuni showed excellent form in the Commonwealth games in New Delhi last month, winning gold in the 10m air rifle partnering with Nur Suryani Mohamed Taib in the double, and silver in the individual category.

This 19-year-old national shooter will compete in the same category of group events in the 16-day Asian meet beginning Nov 12.

"I am thankful for the incentive given. It makes my sacrifices worth-while ... I can't take leave and I can't go home (from the training camp). I am determined to give my best at the Asia Games," she told Bernama Thursday.

Seven shooting athletes, including Nur Ayuni, received the awards worth RM340,000 after they won three golds, four silvers and three bronzes at the New Delhi Commonwealth games.

The Pahang-born Nur others will bring Malaysia's shooting challenge to the games in China.
