Ketua Pengarah Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN), Datuk Zolkples Embong berkata, skuad negara berjaya menepati indeks petunjuk prestasi (KPI) serta bidang keberhasilan utama (KRA) pada kedua-dua temasya itu.
"KPI kita adalah meraih 10 pingat emas di Sukan Komanwel dan sembi- lan pingat emas di Sukan Asia, kedua- duanya berjaya dicapai.
"KRA kita pula ialah mencatat pungutan pingat terbaik dalam sejarah penyertaan kedua-dua temasya itu. Ia juga berjaya," katanya pada sidang media di Guangzhou, China pagi semalam.
Zolkples yang juga ketua kontinjen negara ke Sukan Asia 2010 turut mendedahkan lima faktor yang menyumbang kepada kejayaan atlet-atlet negara.
"Pertama, program pembangunan jangka panjang yang diatur. Kedua, hubungan baik kita (MSN) dengan persatuan sukan kebangsaan kecuali satu atau dua persatuan tertentu.
"Ketiga, sistem sokongan kebajikan kepada atlet bagi memastikan mereka tidak ada masalah. Keempat, penggunaan jurulatih asing terutama dalam sukan teknikal seperti terjun, menembak dan gimnastik.
"Akhir sekali, yang kelima ialah khidmat sokongan sains sukan yang diusahakan Institut Sukan Negara (ISN)," jelas Zolkples.
Tambahnya, faktor kewangan tetap menjadi kekangan terbesar dalam usaha meningkatkan prestasi sukan negara di peringkat antarabangsa.
"Kita jangan banding dengan China, cukuplah kita banding dulu pela- buran yang dibuat oleh Thailand.
"Apa pun, Menteri Belia dan Sukan (Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek) masih cuba meminta Kabinet menambah bajet untuk pembangunan sukan negara," ujarnya.
