South Korea from Sept 18.
Malaysian Gymnastics Federation (MGF) president A Razak Amin said the selection was made after an agreement at an executive council meeting of the parent body of the sport on Monday.
"Based on the performances of national gymnasts currently, we picked Wong Poh San for the Asian Games. MGF is also still considering two more gymnasts, namely, Amy Kwan and Fatin Zakirah Zain Jalany," he told reporters here today.
For the record, Wong won a silver medal (individual ribbon) and two bronze medals (individual and team hoop) at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, last month.
Earlier, A Razak signed an agreement on behalf of MGF with the Chief Executive Officer of Jump Street Malaysia Sdn Bhd Duncan McGilligan to set up the first trampoline gymnastics team in Malaysia.
The Jump Street Trampoline Park (Jump Street) was opened by Youth and Sport Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
For starters, MGF and Jump Street offered a trampoline introductory course and gymnastics to the people.
The six-week programme at a cost of RM300 including basic membership of MGF involved numerous basic trampoline jump, plus security and acrobatics.
"Jump Street provides the best platform for us to unearth talents and develop skills in trampoline gymnastic which is not represented by Malaysia.
"We are also confident the cooperation between MGF and Jump Street will give birth to Malaysia's first trampoline gymnastics team and assist national trampoline gymnasts to qualify for the Olympic Games in 2020 in Tokyo, Japan, said A Razak.
